Incoming Inspection Lab of Printed Materials and Other Testing
Berkeley Contract Packaging has built an in-house lab for inspection of incoming printed materials, as well as other testing as listed below. This can be extremely important when you want to make certain that the materials you are purchasing (or we are purchasing for you) are exactly what you expected.
For a nominal fee, we can perform any of the following tests. In addition, please let us know if there are any other tests you would like us to perform and we will do our best to accommodate you.
SUN TEST - We place the printed component into a chamber and keep it there for twenty-four hours. This equates to 100 days of sunlight shining in through the store window. We then look for any fading that may have occurred.
SCUFF TEST - Two printed cards are placed face-to-face with a weight making certain there is correct contact. The cards are then automatically rubbed together approximately ten times. The cards are then inspected for any scuffing.
FORCE TEST - This test measures the force necessary to remove a cap from the product. If the cap is too loose, it can easily come off and perhaps damage the dispensing mechanism. If it is on too hard, it becomes problematic for the consumer to remove.
DROP TEST - Checks for breakage of lead in a pencil, etc.
ADHERENCE OF LABEL - A label that is affixed to another item is placed into a humidity chamber for a predetermined time to see if the label peels away.
